Anticipation Is Building For The Debut Of Lennar New Jersey’s Next Gen – The Home Within A Home Field Model At Cedar Point In Mays Landing

Date: 06/16/2012 | Mays Landing

The first homes designed by a national home builder specifically for multi-generational living will soon make their debut in Lennar communities throughout New Jersey, and so far, buyers at Cedar Point in Mays Landing have responded favorably to the progressive concept.

Lennar designed the Genesis floor plan for Cedar Point to meet the growing demand for homes that cater to multiple generations living in the same household.  The Genesis features a primary three-bedroom, two-story home, as well as a separate, one-bedroom private suite on the first floor that includes a great room, bath and kitchenette large enough for a full-size refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher and sink. Connecting doors to the suite can be locked at either end, allowing the suite to be integrated into the main living area of the primary home or to function as a private residence. The floor plan allows more than one generation to live in the same household without sacrificing privacy or independence.

“We’ve chosen Cedar Point as the ideal community to build a field model for the Genesis floor plan, and the feedback so far from the public has been encouraging,” notes Don Bompensa, President of Lennar’s New Jersey Division.

“It’s an opportunity to cater to a segment of the market that, for various reasons, may desire the convenience, flexibility and cost savings of having a relative live in the same household as them, but in an environment that creatively respects everyone’s privacy.  Lennar’s Next Gen – The Home Within a Home – addresses that issue by providing two distinct and separate living spaces that allow residents of the home to experience maximum privacy and comfort, while enjoying all of the benefits of a shared home.”

Though families have lived in multi-generational homes for years and people have had in-law suites added to their single-family homes in the past, this is the first time a national homebuilder has included homes designed specifically for multi-generational living into its portfolio. Lennar’s Next Gen – The Home Within a Home – comes to New Jersey following successful introductions in markets such as Florida, Arizona and California.

In addition to the Genesis model at Cedar Point, Lennar is also building field models for its Independence floor plan, a similar design meant for active adult communities, at Greenbriar Oceanaire in Waretown and Greenbriar Stonebridge in Monroe Township. Lennar will be offering Hard Hat tours of the field models in August, with the homes expected to be completed in the fall.

Located near the town center of Mays Landing in Atlantic County, Cedar Point is a charming community of 173 single-family homes. The community has five distinctive home designs that range in size from 1,643 to 3,719 square feet of living space and are priced from the mid-$200s.

Spacious concrete walkways, driveways and patios are also standard. The main living area includes wall-to-wall upgraded plush carpeting.
