New homes must be purchased by April 30, 2010 to qualify for a tax credit. “President Obama remarked during his recent State of the Union address that 2010 would be the year to step up refinancing so that homeowners can move into more affordable mortgages,” said David Parker, Director of Sales and Marketing for Lennar’s Central Florida division. “This means another homebuyer tax credit extension is unlikely and the time to buy is before April 30 to take advantage of these credit opportunities that may never be seen again.”
Lennar is urging prospective homebuyers that want to meet the April 30 tax credit deadline to not get caught short with a short sale. Foreclosed and short sale properties can take an unreasonable amount of time to close.
Currently, Lennar has 62 brand new homes in communities all across the Orlando market that can close in time to qualify for the tax credit savings. Plus, purchasing a brand new home from the homebuilder provides a new home warranty and an easier mortgage process.
“We have already sold more than 48 brand new homes in only three weeks,” said Parker. “The time to act is now while we still have move-in ready inventory available.”
