National Home Builder Unveils New “Green” Housing Line Designed to Save Owners Money and the Environment

Lennar, one of the nation’s leading homebuilders, has launched a new line of energy efficient PowerSmart homes in New Jersey as part of its national “Green” homes initiative.

The new environmentally-friendly homes comprise the latest in green building techniques and construction, resulting in energy-efficient homes that save owners up to 67% on their heating and cooling energy use (compared to 2001 IECC Code).

Lennar’s PowerSmart homes will be held to the highest of standards as all of the plans will be reviewed and rated by an independent third party through the Environments for Living® program to evaluate energy efficiency.

Certified Lennar PowerSmart homes will feature rain-gauge irrigation, fresh air ventilation systems, high-efficiency SEER HVAC system with programmable thermostats, special framing techniques, and many more environmentally friendly features.

“We’re taking an aggressive, responsible approach to incorporating environmentally-sensitive building practices into our residential development activities here in New Jersey and nationwide,” notes Don Bompensa, President of Lennar’s New Jersey Division. “By obtaining third-party verification through the certification, we’re receiving credible data confirming our PowerSmartSM homes are meeting the highest standard when it comes to energy efficiency and providing considerable savings to our homebuyers.”

Communities in Lennar’s New Jersey Division that will carry the new PowerSmartSM homes are Greenbriar Oceanaire in Waretown, Greenbriar Stonebridge in Monroe Township and Greenbriar Fox Ridge in Rockaway Township — all of which are active adult communities — as well as Cedar Point at Mays Landing and Creek Run in Woolwich.

“There’s been an undeniable shift in recent years towards living a more eco-conscious lifestyle,” Mr. Bompensa points out. “Lennar is taking a leading role in this movement by providing our customers with a higher quality, higher performing home that is certified to be better for the environment while also saving homeowners up to 67% on their heating and cooling costs through advanced energy savings features.”
