Have you been dreaming of retirement and buying that perfect new home in your ideal destination?  Has worrying about your nest egg and how long it will last cast a cloud over those dreams? With interest rates and new home prices at their lowest in years, now is a great time to buy a new Lennar home in any one of our 17 Active Adult Communities.  And with these great money saving tips, your dream may not be that far off.

  • Be Sure to Use Your Store Discount Cards.  Carry them on your key chain so you don’t forget them.
  • Bundle Your Internet, Cable and Phone Service.  The monthly savings adds up.
  • Conserve Water to Save Money And The Environment. Run your dishwasher only when it’s full. Turn off the water while brushing your teeth, shaving or washing your face. It all adds up.
  • Monitor Your Television Viewing Habits For a Month.  Do you really watch all those expensive premium pay cable channels? If not, drop them and put the cash into your savings account.
  • Compare Insurance Quotes. Be your own advocate to get the best deal you can without sacrificing necessary coverage.
  • Travel During “Off-Peak” Times. It’s a great way to avoid crowds and save hundreds of dollars on rental properties.
  • Use Your Local Library For Books, CDs And Movies. Most libraries have the latest and the greatest and it’s usually free.
  • Use Energy Saving Light Bulbs And Save on Your Electric Bill.  They use 75% less energy and last about 10 times longer.
  • Buy Paper Products in Bulk. Even if you’re single, buying non-perishable items in bulk will save money in the long run.
  • Use Power Strips to Save Energy And Lower Your Electric Bill. Many appliances consume energy when not in use. So, plug your appliances into power strips and flip the switch when you’re not using them.
  • Avoid impulse purchases. Make a list throughout the week of items you need to buy and stick to your list. It will help you stay within your budget.
  • Pay more than the minimum. Paying extra toward your credit card balance each month will help reduce the total amount of interest you pay.
  • One man’s trash is another man’s treasure. Think before you give away or throw away unwanted items. Have a garage sale or sell unwanted items online.
  • All credit cards are not alike. Shop around for your credit card to get the best interest rates and take advantage of rewards programs.
  • Stop paying for checks.  Most banks offer free checks with checking accounts. They may be plain, but they’re FREE!
  • Look for checking accounts that pay interest.  Keeps your money working as hard as you do.
  • Maintaining a good credit score may help you get a better interest rate on your loan. The higher your score, the better your chances of being able to borrow at lower interest rates.
  • Change and replace your car’s air filter regularly. You can improve your mileage by up to 10% and save up to 21 cents a gallon in gasoline.
  • Take care of your tires. Rotate the tires on your car and keep them properly inflated to make them last longer. You’ll get better gas mileage too – around six cents a gallon
  • Invite friends over instead of going out. If guests bring a dish and beverage you all could save most of the cost of dining out.
  • Don’t forget to mail in your rebates. Retailers count on consumers to forget about rebates, so be sure to send yours in.
  • Try to make one extra full mortgage payment a year. Pay off your mortgage early and you can save thousands of dollars in interest.
  • Ask your physician for generic equivalent prescriptions. You could save over 50% off the cost of branded drugs.
  • Clip coupons on a regular basis. Use them to buy the things you really use and you can save big.
  • Pay more than the minimum. Paying extra toward your credit card balance each month will help reduce the total amount of interest you pay.
